Msheireb Tram guide: Everything you need to know

We simply love Msheireb Downtown Doha and the Msheireb Tram is our second-favorite way to get around the area, after walking, of course.

What, after all, is a smart city committed to sustainable practices without a public transportation system?

Here is our comprehensive guide to the Msheireb Tram. Remember that it's completely free to use.

Current Msheireb Tram route map

The Msheireb Tram connects all of Msheireb Downtown Doha via a two-kilometer, closed-loop track that takes approximately 18 minutes to complete.

Existing stops include Wadi Msheireb Station, Galleria Station, Msheireb Prayer Station, Heritage Quarter Station, Baharat Msheireb Station, Sahat Al Masjid Station, and Al Kahraba Street Station. Plans call for a total of nine stations.

Wadi Msheireb Station connects the Msheireb Tram to the Doha Metro, whereas you should alight at Galleria Station to access the underpass to Souq Waqif and the Alwadi Hotel. Baharat Msheireb Station will take you to the Baharat Msheireb townsquare, home to M7 and the Mandarin Oriental, in the heart of Msheireb Downtown Doha. Msheireb Mosque and Msheireb Museums visitors should exit at the Heritage Quarter Station (and you can click here for our quick guide to the heritage houses here).

Tram of Msheireb: Sustainability

Msheireb Downtown Doha is the first sustainable downtown regeneration project in the world, so you can expect it to have impressive credentials.

The self-powered tramway depot of the Msheireb Tram is platinum LEED certified, and the one-deck streetcars are powered by electricity. In addition to being fully air-conditioned, the trams feature special light-filtering glass that prevents more than 90 percent of solar heat from entering. Discuss high-tech.

Tram Msheireb opening hours
