Legal Requirements & Ownership Criteria
Freehold vs. Leasehold Areas
Qatar designates specific zones where non-Qatari buyers can either own freehold property or hold a leasehold (usufruct) interest for up to 99 years. Popular freehold areas include The Pearl-Qatar, West Bay Lagoon, and parts of Lusail City. Ensure the land or development you are considering is located in one of these authorized zones if you are a foreign investor.
Residency and Investor Visas
Foreign investors who purchase properties above a certain value in designated freehold zones may be eligible for long-term or renewable residence permits. Always confirm the specific thresholds and conditions with the Ministry of Interior or authorized bodies.
